In my opinion, it's that there are no leading indicators to measure improved activation.

You can only see if the customer comes back to buy again of if the doesn't. But you don't know how good or bad you activated him.

That's why you need to find ways to make sure to activate him the best way possible as part of your retention strategy, but not a lot of brands I spoke to are spending a lot of resources on activation right now.

So make sure to accomplish that:

  • Your product is used frequently

  • Your product is used the right way

  • Your product is used in multiple ways

And all of this is highly dependent on Timing & Education. And the right education and the right timing differs from person to person.
