Connecting your Klaviyo Account

How to connect your Klaviyo account as a datasource to your Klar account

Written by Frank Birzle

🆕 Update Apr 26: Klar's Klaviyo integration now supports OAuth — the legacy API key authentication is no longer required.

Before you begin: Make sure you have the right permissions in both Klaviyo and Klar.

Installing from within Klar

  1. Open Klar, in the left-hand navigation click on the Store Configurator, and then click Data Sources.

  2. Click Add Data Source in the top right-hand side of the page.

  3. Select Klaviyo from the list of data source types.

  4. Click Connect, enter a name for your data source, and click Connect Klaviyo Data Source.

  5. You’ll be redirected to Klaviyo to authenticate your account.

  6. Once authenticated, your Klaviyo data source will be connected in Klar!

Installing from the Klaviyo App Marketplace

  1. Click Install from the Klar app listing in the Klaviyo Marketplace.

  2. You'll be prompted to sign in to your Klar account (if you're already signed in, you'll skip this step).

  3. Depending on whether you already have a Klaviyo datasource connected, you'll see one of two flows:

No Klaviyo datasource connected yet: A pop-up will appear to connect Klaviyo as a datasource within Klar.

Klaviyo datasource already connected: A pop-upwill appear with three options:

  • Add a new Klaviyo datasource to Klar

  • View your existing Klaviyo datasource(s) within Klar

  • Connect an existing Klaviyo datasource to another store within Klar

Customizations

Klaviyo supports Customizations, which let you filter how your data is displayed within Klar. Learn how to set up datasource customizations.

Auto-calculate Klaviyo costs in Klar

It is possible to automatically record costs for Klaviyo in Klar. We do this using the mail hashes available in the account based on an estimate (see the table below).

If you’d prefer not make use of our automatic cost calculation you can turn it off in your Klar account (see the highlighted section of the screenshot below in orange).

The automatic cost calculation table is as follows:

Troubleshooting

Duplicate connection

If you're the account owner: navigate to the duplicate datasource and click Delete Data Source at the bottom of the page.

⚠️ Deleting a datasource removes the connection permanently and cannot be reverted.

If you're not the account owner: click Disconnect instead. This won't fully remove the datasource from Klar, but it will disconnect it from the store — meaning its data won't appear in any reports.

Unexpected redirect during setup

Ensure that you have the correct level of permissions in both Klaviyo and Klar. Restart the flow from the beginning and try again.
