Sessions

How Sessions are defined

Written by Valentine Strunz-Happe

Number of visits on your website

Formula

n/a

Explanation

A session is one continuous visit to your website. Klar shows sessions from two sources depending on where you're looking:

GA4 sessions — pulled from your connected Google Analytics account. GA4 defines a session as any interaction a user takes within a 30-minute window on your website. If a user is inactive for 30 minutes and then resumes, a new session starts. These sessions appear in the Daily Overview.

Klar Pixel sessions — tracked directly by the Klar Pixel on your store. These sessions are independent of GA4 and appear in the Attribution reports (Attribution — visits). Because they come from the Klar Pixel, they reflect the same traffic that feeds into Klar's attribution models, making them the more relevant reference when analyzing channel performance.

Notes

The session counts from GA4 and the Klar Pixel will differ slightly — this is expected. GA4 applies its own session logic (30-minute timeout, campaign-change resets), while the Klar Pixel uses its own tracking. For attribution analysis, always use the Pixel-based sessions shown in the Attribution reports.
